COLCA canyon 2 DAYS 1 NIGHT

DAILY DEPARTURES at : 07:30 to 08:00 RETURN: 17:00 to 18:00

DAY 1: AREQUIPA - CHIVAY This Tour starts from Arequipa.
We will pick you up from your Hotel at 07:30 am to initiate our trip to the one of the deepest Canyons of the world, taking the highway from Yura, bordering the snow-covered Chachani mountain towards Cañahuas Pampas; we stop for Coca leaf tea at the Aguada Blanca National Park the habitat of the beautiful South American Cameloidaes, the vicuñas, alpacas, waris and llamas . In the lake of Tocra we will be able to appreciate a variety of migratory birds, including flamencos. We will pass the crater of an extinct volcano (Chucura) and then stop at the famous volcanos panoramic viewpoint, at a high 4.800 meters above sea leavel. From here we will appreciate a great part of the western mountain range, where you can truly appreciate the Pre-Inca farming Terraces / platforms know as "andenerias.

Approximately 13:00 to 13:30, Arrival to Chivay and stop for Lunch(not included).

15:00 our private transport will transfer to us towards the colorful town "pueblito" of Coporaque, from where we will initiate an walk of approximately 2 hours, to enjoy the beautiful landscapes and nature of this side of the valley; as well as a pre-Inca cemetery located in the skirts of a mountain. You will notice that this region was intensively populated by andean people communities.

At 17:00 on return from the walk you have the opportunity to enjoy the thermal baths in the Limekiln whose termo-medicinals waters oscillate between 35º to 38º degrees Celsius of temperature in the swimming pools.( US$ 3 entry ).

20:00 Hrs Dinner (not included) accompanied of a show folkloric; be ready for the Peru andean dances.

DAY 2: CHIVAY - " CRUZ del CÓNDOR Mirador " - CHIVAY - AREQUIPA
Early breakfast, we continue 06:30 in our private transport to the view-point called " Cruz del Cóndor " about 1.5 hour drive into this National Park where you have a very beautiful view on the Colca Canyon. This is also the place where you'll be able to observe several flying condors, sometimes passing very close to you (up to a few meters). Just near this area your tour guide will show you the Pre-inca tombs hanging in the mountains. Plenty of time to spend in this natural region for pictures and gentle walking around the San Pedro cactus area. On the return we will stop in the towns of Pinchollo, Maca and Yanque; with their beautiful colonial churches, as well as in the viewpoints of Choquetico and Antahuilque, from where we will observe impressive andenería farming platforms of the valley, and tombs in pre-Incas scale models.

Lunch at 13:00 then Return and Arrival to the City of Arequipa 17:00 to 18:00 Hrs.

COLCA CANYON 3 DAY - TREKKING DESCENDING

 to the Canyon

DAILY DEPARTURES from Arequipa.

DAY 1: Arequipa, Cabanaconde, San Juan de Chuccho.

At 06:00am we collect you from your Hotels in Arequipa to transfer to the Bus Terminal. From here we travel in public bus to the Colca Valley which takes approximately 4 hours to Chivay (main town of the Valley). A brief stop to stretch your legs and then we continue towards Cabanaconde ( 2 hours approx.) where we will have lunch. Afterward we begin our 4 hours long walk to descend to the Colca Canyon; we will be able to appreciate the diverse Andean and tropical vegetation, and also the geological formation of the Canyon, from the formation period of the mountain range of the andes. Once at the heart of the Canyon we will cross the San Juan de Chuccho suspension bridge to arrive to the town. Here we will spend the night in a local family house (basic cabins accomodation) Time to interact with the locals and enjoy their hospitality.

Day 02: San Juan of Chuccho - Sangalle (Oasis)
After breakfast we re-commence our trek climbing gradually to the andean village of Tapay which is located at 3,000 mts . We will visit Coshñirhua and Malata Villages located at 2,600 mts then we will visit an authentic church and way of life of the locals which are proud to preserve their traditions and customs in a very rustic environment, very close to the "Pachamama" to the mother earth. You will appreciate very beautiful landscapes, ancient farming terraces to cultivate potatoes and other crops, snow-capped summits and a variety of flora and fauna. At 13:00 pm we descend again to the Colca River and arriving to the Oasis or Sangalle Valley 2,100 mts and settle into our cabins of our chosen family or camping, relax at the swimming pool, lunch and exploration of the abandoned mines, waterfalls and opportunity to fish for trout in the Colca river, time to relax and enjoy this beautiful site. .

Day 03: Cabanaconde - Chivay - Arequipa.
At 4.00am we start our 3 hour walk out of the canyon.. Once in Cabanaconde we will have breakfast at (7:45) and then head off for the Cruz del condor, where we will stay for approx 1 hour, to be able to appreciate the majestic flight of the Andean Cóndor; soon we will continue on to arrive at Chivay at arrival 10:30 am. Once there we will have the opportunity to visit the thermal baths of medicinal waters with a temperature of 35 to 40ºC and have lunch in Chivay. At approx 1.30pm we will return to Arequipa arriving approx 17:00 pm. Transfer to your hotel or to the bus terminal for ongoing travel to Nazca if desired.
