SALKANTAY INCA TRAIL TO MACHU PICCHU INTRODUCTION:

A wonderful route which
mixes the typical Andean landscapes with the remote and
mysterious Inca trails. This trail offers marvelous views and
experiences that for sure will remain very deep in your heart
and mind.
Less concurred than the popular Inca Trail, along the route we
can appreciate a progression of diverse ecological peaks,
tropical sites, glacier peaks, in the path to arrive to the lost
Inca city: Machu Picchu.
SALKANTAY INCA TRAIL TO MACHU PICCHU ITINERARY:
First Day on
Salkantay Inca Trail: Cusco - Mollepata -
Markokasa.
Transfer from Cusco to Mollepata. We`ll start the ramble joining
to a very experienced bilingual guide. Our baggage will be
carried by mules. We`ll have some emergency horses too, as far
as Markokasa, the place where we`ll set up our first camping
(lunch, afternoon snack and dinner).
Second Day on
Salkantay Inca Trail: Markokasa - Soraypampa -
Salkantay Pampa.
We`ll climb slowly to the Markokasa Passage (3650 m.a.s.l.)
followed by beautiful landscapes until the Humantay viewpoint
(5917 m.a.s.l.). Then we`ll get along to the Salkantay ravine
where we`ll set up our second camp.
(Breakfast, lunch, dinner).
Third Day
on
Salkantay Inca Trail: Incachiriasca Step
- Sisay Pampa.
Today we`ll start our ramble watching exceptional and
breathtaking views of the Salkantay snow-capped mountain (6271
m.a.s.l.), as we climb to the Inca chiriasca Passage (4880 m.a.s.l.).
This beautiful mountain certainly will amaze us. Later we`ll
descend to the Sisaypampa Passage,, where we`ll set up the tents
having the majestic Salkantay as a crown. (Breakfast, lunch and
dinner).
Fourth Day
on
Salkantay Inca Trail:
Sisaypampa - Canal Inca - Paucarcancha.
After a healthy breakfast, we`ll get along the ramble towards
the Pampacahua valley, where we will find the remains of an
Inca
channel. Then we descend to the archeological complex of Paucarcancha. Camping after
the visit. (breakfast, lunch,
dinner).
Fifth Day
on
Salkantay Inca Trail: Paucarcancha - Huayllabamba -
Pacaymayu.
We`ll undertake very early in the morning our ramble to
Huayllabamba (3000 m.a.s.l.). In this place we will climb to the
Warmihuañusca Passage, from where we can see the great design of
the Inca trail all the way long, descending to the
Pacaymayo
valley where we`ll set up our next campsite (breakfast, lunch,
and dinner).
Sixth Day
on
Salkantay Inca Trail:
Sayacmarca - Phuyupatamarca - Wiñaywayna
This one is the most special day compared to the previous ones. We`ll
be watching spectacular landscapes and will be visiting
archeological sites like the Sayacmarca, Concahamarcay and the
Phuyupatamarca. Finally, we will descend to the striking
Wiñaywayna where we`ll set up our last campsite.
Sixth Day
on
Salkantay Inca Trail: Intipunku
- Machu Picchu - Cusco.
Very early in the morning we`ll start our ramble to arrive at
the Intipunku (Sun`s Gate) and there we can have the first
impressing and unforgettable view of the magnificent
Machupicchu (2475 m.a.s.l.). Then we will descend in our
excursion, guided towards the beautiful Inca citadel. In the
afternoon we will return to Cusco by train. Arrival and transfer
to your hotel. (Breakfast).
